Artificial Intelligence will create a better future or destroy it?

What is AI?

Artificial intelligence is the process of making a machine to think and take a decision based on the situation similar like human intelligence. In the last few years, we have seen a slew of surprising advances in AI fields. All the tech giants are trying to build their own advanced AI system.

Positive side

Today, AI machines can do some very beneficial things that humans will simply never be able to. With the advancement of virtual assistants, IBM supercomputer Watson, Alpha Go, Open AI, self-driving cars and many more projects are forced AI to be the next big thing of the future.
Around 200 years ago the industrial revolution immutably remoulded society. Today another revolution is underway with potentially even further reaching consequences.
Artificial intelligence promises to give machines the ability to think analytically. Once they are perfected, nothing will be the same. AI will change everything from healthcare to education, poverty to security. AI could positively impact society, business, and culture on the order of magnitude of the internet itself.

Negative side

However, this speeding progress of AI, creates a major concern. Many people afraid that in the future robots will eat up their jobs and leaving ordinary workers impoverished and unemployed.
There is always a grain of truth to these complaints, because the technological innovations inevitably displace some segment of the workforce. In general, the current technological revolution is displacing those workers whose jobs consisted of routine, repeatable tasks.
But, AI to scale the human mind, not replace it. The human brain is the most elegant computer in existence. We process millions of sensory inputs automatically and constantly, allowing us to learn and respond to our environment.

Experts are split on whether this technological transformation will create more jobs than it destroys. The one thing we do know is the jobs that will be created will require different skills than the jobs that will be destroyed. And it will require us to constantly be educating ourselves to keep ahead of the machines.

Major Concern

One major concern for humanity is autonomous weapon system. AI could be humanity’s greatest existential threat. Recently, Elon Musk - the entrepreneur and CEO of SpaceX Tesla Motors and Boring company shows his concern about AI on social media. He said that the competition between global powers to acquire artificial intelligence to rule the world could trigger World War III.
His fears were prompted by a statement from Russia's president - Vladimir Putin. The president said that "artificial intelligence is the future, not only for Russia, but for all humankind... It comes with colossal opportunities, but also threats that are difficult to predict. Whoever becomes the leader in this sphere will become the ruler of the world."
Musk went on to say the war could be started by the AI itself, possibly by an AI system launching an automated preemptive strike against one of its challengers. Some experts are afraid that US is at risk of falling behind other countries, such as China, when it comes to developing artificial intelligence.
His fear of AI warfare could be possible. time. Once developed autonomous weapons will permit armed conflict to be fought at a scale greater than ever, and at timescales faster than humans can comprehend. These weapons can be use by terrorists use against innocent populations, and weapons can be hacked to behave in undesirable ways.

Conclusion

May be good or may be bad, but AI should be thought of as a fundamentally new approach to every problem. Those decisions will be made by humans who want to change and improve the world or use it against humanity. Thanks for reading.
